The toxic fumes from factories producing polythene also affect the people from the surrounding environment. Billions of polythene bags are disposed of globally on a daily basis. From a recent study, at least four polythene bags are used by each household in the world on a daily basis (Ankiro, Ikumawoyi, Olotu, & Olugunagba, 2012). It is, therefore, a critical matter for the world to realize the increasing trends of polythene usage and poor disposal that may lead to greater environmental problems in the future. There should, therefore, be a candid and rapid management programs to prevent such increasing trends. Reducing the use of polythene through selecting products that do not require packaging or using other packaging materials such as paper or glass can help reduce the harm caused by polythene bags. This will diminish the adverse health effects caused by poor polythene waste management. Refillable polythene containers can also be reused to reduce the number of polythene containers disposed. Most importantly, polythene containers can be recycled to and used to produce plastic mobile toilet, bins, waste baskets and other containers. Through this, the unnecessary disposing of such materials would be minimized since the containers will be considered valuable by the recyclers (Partha, 2008). It is very hard to produce the French culture in one paragraph hence my conclusion is that both destination have a lot to offer to tourist in terms of infrastructure, transportation, accommodation and attractions and will continue to do so once they have an sustainable tourism development plan. 3.2 Evaluating the characteristics of a tourist destination affect its appeal in various factor that have to be taken in consideration: The over commercialized resorts or destinations can lead to overcrowding and a high rise of buildings. In France this experience has been kept under control by the authorities, because the infrastructure has suffered a continuous development and the law enforcement has been trained very effective to cope with the large number of tourists, especially in the summer time. Sales promotion and advertising can have a negative impact on tourism, like the terrorist attacks on 9/11 2001 in USA and 7/7 2005 in UK. A positive impact can occur, for example the media coverage for the 2012 Olympics. Crime is one of the most important factors that influence the choice of any tourist. Political Rap and Boogie Down Productions In the fall of 1987, Scott la Rock, the DJ of the rap group Boogie Down Productions (B-D-P) was shot in a car after trying to break up a fight (Small 77). In light of B-D-P's role in reforming rap in the succeeding years, his biography is significant; he was college educated and was employed--in addition to his musical activity--as a social worker. He had released a groundbreaking record that year, and had already worked on a follow-up, which would defy older categories of rap music. His violent death seemed a cause for pause to reflect on rap music's new direction. The effect on the other member of B-D-P, the rapper K-R-S One (Chris Parker), was devastating but quickened his mission. Nearly two years after the murder, he preached against black-on-black crime, promoting education, spirituality and vegetarianism. Rap had to be political and it required self-denial, even asceticism; he had made rap music an extremely serious endeavor. Enlightened rap seemed poised to enjoy mainstream popularity. But something about its message did not capture the popular imagination, and it has remained a sub-genre. Conversely, the highly materialistic rap that was popular when B-D-P appeared in 1987, glorifying jewelry, cars and brand names, is in vogue again. However, B-D-P--vintage B-D-P--enjoys a paradoxically respected position. This is strange because in some respects B-D-P's version of political rap was stricter than the other groups that comprised the so-called New School, the consciousness-raised groups that followed in his path. Something about B-D-P's asceticism had an edge that made it strangely attractive. I wish to explore this ambiguity. K-R-S One was the guiding force of B-D-P, writing its lyrics and producing its albums. He is generally regarded as the popular artist who, along with Chuck D of Public Enemy, politicized rap in the middle 'eighties. It is well known that popular rap was capable of political content from its earliest beginnings. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five released both "The Message" (1982) and "White Lines" (Don't Do It) (1983), the first a lament about ghetto life and the second a powerful indictment of cocaine (then called "freebase"), well before crack became a mainstream epidemic. Run-DMC rapped in "Hard Times" about the early 'eighties inflation economy. Of course, the political discourse of rap music has been pointed out before, but almost always in exalted form.

Is it Morally wrong for those under the age of 18 to play GTA V? Essay

Some people, mainly young over the age of eighteen , would say that people under the age of 18 shouldn’t play Grand Theft Auto five for many reasons. The main one is that they spend more time on there consoles playing those games then studying and working hard to complete homework tasks effectively. Some might suggest one of the those reasons would be that it is certified 18 and they would be breaking the law in playing that game. Another thing you could say is that GTA has sexual references and strong language and younger people shouldn’t be exposed to that rude behaviour. Some people already think the youth of today are over exposed to things they shouldn’t be exposed to like foul language and those types of sexual references. Another point that could be raised about this video game is it’s racial discrimination and it’s sexist views on the world. Girls especially would find that this game is offensive towards them in the way women are treated in this game regardless of it’s location or year it’s set in. Some people from different cultures my find this game offensive because of how different races are portrayed or how they are treated. Teachers would prefer children especially those in GCSE years to focus on their work instead of playing a silly video game which isn’t important in the long run but their grades are. Other people, mainly those under the age of 18, would argue this point. They would say it is okay to play GTA five because their family members or people around them play it. People in high school would say things like â€Å"We swear anyway.† or things like â€Å"It’s just a video game.† They like their parents or who ever let them play it in the first place would believe that it’s not like they’d re-enact these things that happen in the game in real life. Those playing the game would say that they don’t see the problem with the racist, sexist and discriminative views of this game. They might find those things give the game it’d character or make the game more interesting. They could also argue that even though it’s certified 18 it didn’t stop them playing the last Grand Theft Auto game or any other 18 rated game like some of the Call Of Duty games or even games like Borderlands two and that those games were never questioned about even if lots of people knew they were playing them I think that people under the age of 18 shouldn’t play GTA V because I believe that they should focus more on their studies especially towards the end of their teen age years where their school focus is more important on their exams than on a video game. I see that from a teacher point of view they would agree with that. From a girls point of view I believe that this game shouldn’t be played by under 18’s because it shows girls off in a bad light and is offensive to women. This game also shows ignorance towards different races and the difference between men and women. The discrimination between races and women shows that the people who create this game obviously didn’t intend for a younger audience.

Correspondance essays I chose to view Toby Kahns work called Correspondence. Before I went to see the picture I was imagining something colorful, with a lot of red tones to it. I thought it would stress to the knowledge of understanding and communicating. This piece art was very interesting because it is so simply designed that it difficult to understand what the picture is actually about. When I first saw this picture I was upset because I could not understand it at all. I felt like it was just two colors and had no meaning. I looked at it for a rather long time, using my imagination to find some a theme or something in the picture. This picture definitely takes a lot of imagination, because I asked people what they thought it was and every time I got a different answer, none of which I saw in the artwork. I finally came to two different decisions about this painting. The first was that all of the white spots are fingertips and the white spot at the bottom is a thumb, which were all reaching in toward the center trying to grab something. My second conclusion take place in a forest where the white spot at the bottom is a house and the rest of the white spots are the tiny cracks of sunlight that are poking in between the trees. Although these suggestions are probably not what the painting is about, it just proves that art is unpredictable and requires an imagination. ...

These include avoiding idioms, metaphors, similes, long words, and foreign words (Orwell). However, there are even more rigid standards for political writing. According to Orwell, the vagueness and incompetence he illustrates with five different passages are especially prevalent in political writing. Unfortunately, they appear in the Declaration of Independence as well. As a result, the Declaration of Independence is a poor specimen according to Orwells standards. The vagueness is easy to spot from the beginning of the Declaration: When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Natures God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation (Declaration of Independence). As Orwell states regarding other political writing, there is a great lack of precision in this passage (Orwell). The phrases in the course of human events and among the powers of the earth are long and unnecessary. They do not add to the meaning of the passage, and they make it difficult to read and follow. In addition, the phrase and of Natures God seems redundant, since the prior phrase is the laws of Nature. Instead, the passage should read: When it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that â€Å"Analysis of the Declaration of Independence† â€Å"Page # 02† they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. Another imprecise passage is this one: Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed (Declaration of Independence). This passage is not vague. Rather, it simply contains comma-separated phrases that could be written in a better way, as in: Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes. And accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. In his essay Orwell warns against using phrases made up of nouns, verbs, and adjectives where a simple action verb will do (Orwell). The following example illustrates this concept: He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands (Declaration of Independence). The phrases that can be replaced by simpler verbs are: constrained, taken Captive, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, and to fall themselves by their hands. This passage could be re-written in the following way, keeping Orwells standards in mind: He has forced our fellow Citizens captured on the high Seas to bear Arms against â€Å"Analysis of the Declaration of Independence† â€Å"Page # 03† their Country, to execute their friends and Brethren, or to fall (or perish) by their Hands. ( In the passage above is also an example of using the passive voice unnecessarily, which is another no-no according to Orwell. The phrase is: by their hands. These words make it difficult to know who is killing whom. As a result, it would be better to omit the phrase entirely and instead write: friends and Brethren, or to fall (or perish) themselves. That anyone would criticize the well-known statement from the Declaration of Independence, all men are created equal, may seem strange. However, according to Orwells standards, there is indeed cause for questioning the word equal. Equal is one of the words Orwell describes as having numerous and variable meanings and is also one that is often used dishonestly (Orwell). Therefore, what the 13 states meant and what the king of England perceived were two different things. For example, because women couldnt vote until 1920, the states did not mean that all mankind is created equal. They indeed meant that all male people are created equal. However, the king did not know exactly what they meant, because the states hid behind the pretentious word equal. Orwell says political writing is not fresh and does not contain vivid speech. That is, there is no imagery; there are no idioms. Instead, political writers use long words where shorter ones would suffice, and these words cloud the writers meaning, making it unclear (Orwell). As a last example, read the following passage from the Declaration of Independence: -That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government â€Å"Analysis of the Declaration of Independence† â€Å"Page # 04† becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness (Declaration of Independence). Long, imprecise words used in this passage include: instituted, abolish, and destructive. Besides failing to state a clear meaning, these words create more syllables and less coherence, making the passage difficult to read, speak, and comprehend. This is another case in which, Orwell says, the meaning of the passage is hardly even known to its writer (Orwell). In conclusion, Orwells standards are clear about what makes good writing. Vivid imagery, preciseness, short words, everyday speech, and lack of foreign words are a few points. The Declaration of Independence breaks all of Orwells rules, without saying anything fresh or lasting. This is not to say that the Declaration of Independence is not an important piece of writing or that it has no historical value. That is far from the discussion here.
